Therapy offers a safe space to take care of yourself and your mental health. At its best, therapy is a path to more fulfilling relationships— with both yourself and others. Together, we can begin to bring awareness to what isn't working for you. And when you’re ready, we can explore your past: how it shaped your current self and the way you relate to others. You may think that some parts of you – thoughts, behaviors, or traits – are good, and others are bad. I think they all exist for a reason, and some of those parts may no longer align with your best interests. Let’s challenge your beliefs and figure out what works for you now.
For individuals, I use an integrative approach that includes depth psychology, psychodynamic theory, trauma-informed somatic techniques, and liberation psychology. For couples, I use a blend of attachment theory, the Gottman method, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which teaches people how to deescalate from conflicts and explore the underlying feelings that keep them stuck in negative patterns of interaction. I love to work with those in multiracial and interracial partnerships. For families, I use a systems and narrative approach that focuses on identifying and changing ingrained relational dynamics and narratives.
My areas of focus are working with anxiety, trauma (including complex & intergenerational), depression, substance use (from a harm reduction lens), racial & cultural identity, masculinity, relationship & family issues, grief, life transitions, sex/sexuality, and career counseling.
People describe me as warm, supportive, and non-judgmental. I am Black and multiracial, and I have spent my life trying to find belonging in different cultures and groups of people, only to find it within myself. I love to work with BIPOC and multiracial folks and hold an intersectional lens in the context of oppression and identity. I value kindness, curiosity, respect, empathy, inner-knowing, cultural humility, transparent communication, and the healing power of a relationship.
