Non-Monogamy Group
An in-person support and process group for anyone who identifies as non-monogamous. We welcome solo poly, ethically non-monogamous folks, open couples, triads, polycules, and anyone who is curious about exploring common themes that arise in non-monogamy.
Group Information
Are you someone who is curious about exploring consensual open relationships for the first time, someone who’s been actively practicing non-monogamy for years, or somewhere in between? No matter where you are on your non-monogamous journey, you deserve a safe and supportive space to connect with others who can validate the excitement, concerns, and complexities that come up when practicing non-normative relationship structures. Relationships can bring up some of our deepest insecurities and joys, and having multiple relationships can only increase the intensity of these feelings. Together, we can create a supportive space to process the challenges and explore the diverse perspectives that come with practicing non-monogamy. The intention of this group is to create a space for us to build connection with like-minded community, confront differences with curiosity and compassion, and to witness each other and be witnessed as we explore vulnerable emotions that arise in our non-monogamous relationships.
This group is welcome to...
Adult singles, couples, triads+ located in the Bay Area, CA who are able to attend weekly in-person groups for four consecutive sessions in Oakland, CA within a therapist-facilitated space
Schedule:
Four consecutive Tuesdays starting Oct 29th from 6-8pm in person in Oakland (participants must sign up for all 4 sessions)
Structure:
The intention of this group is to provide community support for those practicing non-monogamy. We aim to counteract loneliness that can arise from practicing alternative relationship structures. We hope to provide a safer space for people to process stigmatized relational experiences and be seen in their insecurities while receiving validation rather than being questioned or challenged. We will begin our group by getting to know one another, making room for our conceptions about and experiences with non-monogamy, sharing our intentions for our work together, and establishing our group agreements. The following two weeks, we will provide experiential somatic tools for processing emotions and experiences, as well as discussing the values and decolonized/pre-colonized ways of relating to one another pre-monogamous paradigm, and reflecting on self-transformation throughout the journey of non-monogamy. In our final week, we will focus on providing and sharing community support and resources for moving forward on this complex and valid journey of love and exploration. The group is limited to 10 people with a shared intention that each member commits to showing up consistently for the duration of the 4 scheduled group meetings. We aim to honor differences by creating opportunities to learn about each other’s varied lived-experiences and perspectives.
